Welcome to Heather Downs Country Club

  • Hole #1

    Hole #1

A testy opening par four. Tee it high and let it fly. Two fairway bunkers will grab errant tee shots. A short to middle iron approach to a large, narrow green, with two greenside bunkers, could give you the chance for an opening birdie. Get your par and move to hole two.

  • Hole #2

    Hole #2

This short par five is a good scoring opportunity. Two big hits must elude two fairway and two greenside bunkers. OB down the right side will sneak up on you if you miss right. Keep your ball in play, and you'll score well.

  • Hole #3

    Hole #3

A solid par four; your drive must stay left, as OB down the right side will cost you a shot. Plenty of sand lurks once again. Keep yourself below the hole on your approach. A slick downhill putt could get away from you. If you get through the first three holes with a decent score, you should be ready for the test ahead.

  • Hole #4

    Hole #4

A monster of a par four, this is the toughest hole on the course. Your tee shot must be placed near the 150 yard marker, or you could run through the fairway and face a downhill lie out of the rough. A creek crosses the front of the green and must be traversed on your approach. The severely sloping green, which sits down in the valley, is a three putt waiting to happen. Keep your ball below the hole.

  • Hole #5

    Hole #5

One of the best par threes in the Toledo area, this downhill tester requires a well placed long iron or fairway wood approach to a small green. A greenside bunker and stream will grab shots to the right. Use the hill to the left of the green and you could get a member's bounce. Make a par here and you earned it.

  • Hole #6

    Hole #6

The longest par four on the course from the back tees, this is a great driving hole. Hit a big drive here, and you're still left with a lengthy approach into the green. A pond, two fairway bunkers and two greenside bunkers must also be avoided on your approach. This green will test you again, if faced with a downhill putt.

  • Hole #7

    Hole #7

A sporty par three, hit your approach to the middle of this small green, while avoiding three greenside bunkers. An uphill putt for birdie would be a nice shot.

  • Hole #8

    Hole #8

The last two par fours on the front nine are perfect for the right handed fader. The eighth hole plays into the prevailing wind and has only a small fairway bunker down the left side. Only the big hitters can reach the cross bunkers, 285 yards out. A large green will accept a short to middle iron approach.

  • Hole #9

    Hole #9

Bomb it down the left side, as a drive missed right will be swallowed up by the trees. Your short approach could lead to a birdie with a solid iron into this narrow green. If you make a par here, you'll finish the front nine feeling good. It's almost time to Bogey's Bar and Grill for a drink and a bite to eat. Call ahead from the tee if you want to place an order.

  • Hole #10

    Hole #10

Be prepared to keep the ball in play and keep your eye on the ball. Six of the nine holes are carved out of a heavily wooded area. Hole ten is a short par four, which doglegs from left to right. A long iron or fairway wood will keep you in play. If you hit the driver here, make sure it's a straight one. A short to middle iron approach into this relatively flat green must avoid two greenside bunkers.

  • Hole #11

    Hole #11

The big hitters can leave the driver in the bag here as well. Any tee shot over 250 yards runs the risk of catching the cross bunker. Play smart off the tee and you're left with a short approach, which can lead to a birdie. Any shots hit sideways and you're in jail.

  • Hole #12

    Hole #12

The longest par four on the back nine, this hole will test you from start to finish. Hit a solid drive to avoid OB left and trees right. A long to middle iron approach will need to avoid two greenside bunkers. If you make par here, you've earned it.

  • Hole #13

    Hole #13

This is the first of two tough par threes on the back nine. A short to middle iron off the tee is all that's needed, but make sure you avoid the pond and three bunkers greenside. Aim for the middle of this small green, asthis bowl shaped green will funnel any shots toward the center.

  • Hole #14

    Hole #14

This par five plays into the prevailing wind and is your best scoring opportunityh on the back nine. Launch it off the tee, but four fairway bunkers must be challenged. Big hitters can get home in two shots, while everyone else should have short iron approach shots into this large green guarded by two bunkers.

  • Hole #15

    Hole #15

A straight tee shot is a must here. Hit it left and the trees will swallow it up. If you bail out right, you'll need to challenge the small grouping of trees, short and right of the green. A middle to short iron approach must negotiate the pond that guards the green short, left and long.

  • Hole #16

    Hole #16

This is the signature hole at Heather Downs CC. Proper club selection is vital on this short, yet challenging par three. Hit it short, you're wet. Hit it left, you're wet. Hit it long, you're wet. Once you've reached the green, be prepared to face the most severely sloping green on the course. Another three putt is waiting to happen, unless you stay below the hole and read the green correctly.

  • Hole #17

    Hole #17

Two great finishing holes await, as you finish up your round. Hole 17 is the most demanding par five on the course. It's the longest hole on the course and it will also feel like the narrowest. Three well controlled shots are required here or you're most likely in jail. Two fairway bunkers short of the green must be avoided. A large green will accept any well placed approach shots.

  • Hole #18

    Hole #18

A slight left to right dogleg par four, a tee shot down the left will open up your approach to the green. Two greenside bunkers will come into play on any misplaced approach shots. On the green, stay below the hole, as downhill putts can get away from you. Drinks and food can be ordered from the tee. Call Bogey's Bar and Grill and your order will be ready for you as you reach the clubhouse.
